Abilities:

1. Turn about... ~ Bloodline - Nationality :
Fiercely protective of her own nature, Astrid's mind is capable of kicking up a defense of her own thoughts, emotions and behaviors that protects her from forcable charms or manipulations of others. But there is a bit of a twist here - as not only does this ability block the powers used against her in an attempt to manipulate her emotions, thoughts, or actions, , but she can briefly turn the user's own power back on them, using the manner by which they would manipulate her to then, in turn invoke that same fate upon those that would use her.
2. Daywalker :
This ability is fairly new to her - a bi-product of accepting the bond of a new clan mistress as her own - and it still takes some getting used to for Astrid. However, with this ability, she feels less inclined to sleep during the day than most other vampires, and can exist inside in favorable conditions during the day without needing to sleep or hide at all.
* Please Note: The Daywalker ability is by no means a full immunity to the sun. If she's in a room with curtains closed, she doesn't feel tired even as the day goes on...but she can not exist outside in the sun, nor can she go in the rooms where there are no curtains present unless it's night time. *

Skills:
1. Fine Art : Yet another part of her extensive education, Astrid knows the fine art of painting - creating works of art that are quite lovely to look at. She's also quite skilled in the art of poetry, and has at least two books of her poems published that sell quite well on the open-market.
2. Songbird : Her voice's beauty has been compared to that of the mythical siren - something lovely and haunting enough to make people really /listen/ when she sings. She is classically trained, and has a positively stunning range and can sing in a variety of different languages - including Italian, Greek and Latin.
3. Musically Inclined : Her 'mother' and mistress Thea wanted her child to be very well-rounded, so along with her education in other areas, she saw to it that Astrid learned the art of music as well - and as such can play both the violin and the harp and coax the most exquisite music out of them.
3. Linguistically Versatile: She has a talent for learning different languages and learning them quickly. Currently speaks: Swiss-German, Regular German, French, Italian, Greek, and English.
4. Educated : Astrid was given the best of educations at home, her 'mother' hiring only the best of tutors to instruct her daughter well.
5. Marksman - Archer : Astrid is positively lethal with a bow and arrow or cross bow, and almost never misses her mark (unless she's toying with her prey that is ), and often enjoys hunting beasts when she can not hunt humans.
Weaknesses:
1. Moon-Touched ~ An 'inherited' curse of the genes from her biological father, Astrid has a remarkable lust and hunger for blood that often has her leaving behind more victims than survivors - the girl slipping into a place where all she wants is to consume /all/ of someone she chooses to feed from. Unlike most moon-sickness, Astrid's is related to the full moon - which her 'mother' takes as a sign that she was truly a 'gift' from the Goddess Artemis herself.
* Note: When she is at work, she /will/ bite...but she prefers to only offer that privilege to vampiric clientele, as with humans there is a very real danger that she will go too far. However, if a human client is pushy enough, she will relent and try to be careful. Any vampire hoping to do the biting, however, will find themselves given the icy treatment very quickly as the privilege of so great an intimacy is not, and never will be, for sale. *
2. Predatorial Instinct : Astrid enjoys the chase almost as much as she enjoys the blood, and likes to play with her food before she eats it. Sometimes this instinct can quite literally kick her in the butt as she can, on occasion view other vampires deemed to be her lesser as 'food' just as often as she views humans (all humans) as prey.
3. Half-wild : Despite her many years of being civilized by her 'mother', she still taps more into the bestial side of her vampiric nature than most do...and as such, sometimes seems 'off' in normal vampiric society, putting her at risk for sometimes quite negative attentions and unwanted focus.

Brief History:
She didn't know precisely what drove her parents from their native country of Switzerland into the arms of America...in fact, Astrid barely recalled even coming here to begin with. All that she knew was that as soon as they deemed her old enough to 'fend for herself', her parents abandoned her - disappearing almost in the course of a single day and leaving her behind on foreign soil. It was madness, she'd heard, for vampires of such prestige as her parents were to leave behind the only heir to their name... and yet hers had gone ahead and done just that.
For a time, Astrid lived a half-wild life...existing off of what food she could 'hunt' for herself...and finding plenty of willing 'prey' in the form of men who were drawn in by her pretty face and the pretty lies that a girl like her - teasing and seemingly good-natured and sweet - represented. Eventually though, she grew tired of being so alone...after all, most vampires were essentially social beings, and it simply wasn't natural to live apart from her own kind...and she began to seek out her own kind - taking up a place of residence outside of the clan lands of the Clan now known as Ilati Utu. She witnessed the downfall of the clan master that formerly owned such lands, watched as he and his killed off by the one called 'Kaiser' and then watched as the new clan mistress - a woman that she would soon know as 'Mother' - take over.
Gradually, she crept in closer and closer...hoping to catch a glimpse of Her. Hoping to find out enough about what made the older vampire tick in order for her to be able to ingratiate herself to the other woman, in hopes of finally finding herself a real home and a family. The 'hunting' was good too, slaves that wandered too far from their home an easy target. But it was there, on the outskirts of her clan lands that Helena found her - sitting on a rock in a spill of moonlight. Astrid's eyes were wide and half-wild with the moon-sickness, a bloodied corpse of one of Ilati Utu's slaves laying nearly unrecognizably broken and dripping at Astrid's feet as she stared up at that moon. Blood spattered her clothing, her pale skin, and her pale hair and the full moon provided the perfect 'halo' of light around her delicate form.
Helena knew, at that moment, that this fey creature...this pale, wild-looking vampire...was a gift. And in need of some motherly care. It took some time, but with plenty of tender loving care and a great expense of money, Astrid was made civil...and capable of behaving as society dictated she should, though there were moments and still are moments when that wildness shows through. Astrid accepted Helena into her heart as her True Mother, and as her Mistress - and with that bond came something new...Astrid no longer finding it difficult to stay awake during the day to spend time with the one she adored. Now, she lives on Ilati Utu lands, as much a part of the clan as any one of Helena's...if not more so.
Recent History
Recently there has been a takeover of Clan Ilati Utu - the woman she called 'mitera' for so long now dead and gone. Now, due to her young age, she should have by all accounts died the moment Clan Mistress Helena fell broken and dead to the ground - but the foresight of Vesperes Van Hasselt saved her from that fate. Granted, Astrid does not have any idea as to what might have made the new Kaiser of District 3 take interest enough in her to save her, but she can't deny that she's immensely grateful. Currently she's enjoying her new 'home' in District 1 under the watchful eye of Ayberk Burakgazi- and will returns to District 3 when things have settled and no one will question her presence.
