Her footsteps were soft as she approached the library, not wanting to disturb the others residing in the house. It had been kind of Master Gunnar to take her in, kind of him to give her a new life. She didn't quite understand why he did, as she wasn't really useful, but she was grateful nonetheless and didn't want to give him reason to regret his decision. Before entering the huge room, she peeked in the door to see if anyone was in there. It seemed empty and so she entered, eyes wide.
It was calm and quiet and she was surrounded by walls and shelves of wonderful, peaceful, mind-transporting books. Anna ran her fingers along their spines, taking her time in deciding what to read. Sure, she could be mingling in the throne room or cooking in the kitchen... But the throne room was loud, and she didn't much care for loud. The kitchen was usually peaceful and she enjoyed cooking, but she just didn't feel like it. So here she was, indulging herself in her favorite pastime with Master Gunnar's vast array of reading material. There were tomes older than the famed Master Zeo, novels, shiny new straight from the bookstore, classics that one could bury themselves in time and time again... How could a person decide on just one?
Anna decided that she couldn't and pulled an armload off of the shelf before moving to a nice, squishy chair, placing the pile on a nearby end table. She pulled a book off of the top of the pile and looked it over. It was a steamy romance, a classic that, in it's day, was considered vulgar and was actually banned in England for awhile. She opened up the cover and began reading with vigor, absorbing the words as if every one held the greatest importance, becoming wrapped up in the story and actually crying when the protagonist, a lovely young woman, was scorned by the man she loved.
It wasn't long before she devoured the entire story and happily grabbed another off of the pile after setting the novel next to the rest.
