Lycanthrope FACTS
Please note: Lycanthropes do not have to choose a clan. Mostly they live as free humans do - though they are NOT in fact actually human.
1. Lycanthropes are essentially were-wolves or were-cats.
2. Though there is no blood-feud between vampires and lycans - lycanthropes are not generally viewed all that well. They are thought of as somewhere between a human and a dhampir - with them being thought of more highly than a dhampir and less than a human by most born or pure vampires.
3. The lycanthropy virus is spread by being scratched, bitten, or by having unprotected sex with a lycanthrope.
4. The lycanthropy virus is both a blessing and a curse - providing a formerly 'weak' human with some enhancements but taking away their ability to give birth.
5. A lycanthrope does not have a 'natural' wolf or big cat form. When a lycanthrope shifts, they take on a hunched, anthro form instead. This allows them to run on all fours like a wolf, but keeps them from appearing to be actual wolves(or big cats).
6. Typically, lycanthropic 'breeds' are similar to the country of origin. Since this game takes place in the United States, all lycanthropic breeds must belong either to a wolf, fox, coyote, or to a big cat that is native to this country. Fur and eye colors should be kept natural.
7. When a person spends too much time in anthro form, it may start to show in their human shape. Ie: Maggie was forced to spend a lot of time in her lycan form and has the elliptical pupils of a cat and has slightly elongated and sharpened canines at the top and bottom of her jaw because of this.
8. Typically lycanthropes do NOT have access to teeth and claws in their human form. A partial shift is not a common thing.
9. Lycans have a normal, human life span.
8. Lycans can NOT be turned by vampires, and can NOT be interbred with vampires. The lycanthropy virus and the vampiric enzymes that can 'turn' negate each other.
10. Typically, lycanthropes are looked down upon by vampires and dhampirs and are treated like monsters by humans. This is why many lycanthropes try to keep the fact that they are lycan to themselves.
11. Lycanthropy is NOT common, and as such lycans are typically rare in the human world. There have been occasions where whole families are infected - though this is more common among the canid breeds.
12. Silver can injure and kill a lycanthrope.
13. The shift can occasionally be brought on by strong emotional surges.
14. Lycanthropes can shift at will, and often do.
15. The urge to shift does get stronger when the moon is full, so many choose to stay in the privacy of their own homes on this night.
16. Certain breeds of lycanthropes do have a pack mentality. Even if a lycan is not predisposed to this line of thinking, generally they often find themselves drawn to others like them.
17. Lycanthropes are treated as Initiate vampires as well, though typically their powers do not fall in line with the vampiric ones.
18. On this site, lycanthropes have a far higher tolerance to drugs and alcohol than a human would. They also enjoy heightened metabolisms, meaning they likely have to eat more and eat more frequently than a human would. Also, a lycanthrope's blood is naturally at a higher temperature (normal for humans is 98.0 degrees...normal for a lycanthrope of any breed is 102.0-103.0 degrees).
