If you are planning on playing a clan pet or slave, please visit the following links to be sure that there is an opening for one in your desired clan(s).
HUMANS
For the purposes of this realm, there are four types of humans you will come across: Free, Pets, Slaves, and Cattle. Cattle are strictly NPC, but Free, Pets and Slaves are all available for playing.
General
1. Humans no longer think that vampires are just a myth. They /know/ they are fact.
2. Humans are generally both fearful and curious about vampires. They do not generally dislike vampires automatically however, as this is more of a personal preference.
3. Humans generally are effected by a vampire's powers.
4. Humans generally dislike Dhamphirs as they feel they don't 'belong' in their society and are somehow unnatural.
5. Humans are weaker than vampires and dhamphirs. They may be able to put up a good fight against lower-classed vampires and dhamphirs if their talents allow - but when presented with a vampire of higher rank than Master it is unlikely a vanilla human will be able to really put up that much of a fight.
5. Humans may be realistically gifted - though this may lead to your human character being claimed as a Pet.
The Various Roles of a Human on TME
FREE HUMANS
1. Free humans are the humans that exist outside of vampire society. They are your every day, average folk that work for a living and enjoy life as it is.
2. Free humans are subject to being made into pets or slaves, but only if the human is WILLING to be one.

PETS
PETS
1. Pets are humans that are generally gifted in some way - whether that means that they are particularly talented in any given area(s), psychic, or just have generally tasty blood.
2. Pets live side by side with vampires, often made to live in the same building that houses a clan - depending on the owning vampires rules.
3. Pets are favored humans, and are therefore treated much the way a human would treat a much beloved house pet - they are pampered, often spoiled, and well-rewarded. They are often also possessions and therefore are subject to being traded as such at the Clan Master/Mistress's whim.
4. Being a Pet does not automatically mean that a sexually intimate relationship will or has to occur. In fact, sexual relationships between a Pet's Owner and the Pet are rare as it's generally believed that such things hinder rather than help matters between them.
5. Pets are kept ONLY by the Clan Master/Mistress and vampires of Elite Ranking or higher. Any other vampire will not be allowed to keep pets.
6. Pets are usually the most trusted humans by the Clan Master/Mistress and are generally given free reign during the day, provided they return when they are either called or when the sun sets. They are also generally the 'eyes' and 'ears' of a clan during the day for this very reason.
7. A pet's purpose is, at it's basest, to serve. It's true that Pets are favored, but they are still essentially slaves and therefore they will often be required to have clan duties as any other slave - depending on the master or mistress that owns the Pet in question.

SLAVES
1. Slaves are not favored like pets, but they are still treated well.
2. Slaves serve in two categories - pleasure and food.
3. Slaves are often referred to as 'Dolls' , as most vampires that own them tend to treat them as little more than toys.
4. Slaves wear collars as a mark of ownership, or sport a brand - occasionally they sport both if their owner is cautious.
5. Slaves are owned by the Clan Master/Mistress, but are left to be passed around the lesser vampires to be used as that vampire sees fit.
6. Slaves have shared quarters in the clan houses, not private rooms.
7. Slaves are allowed out of the clan house, but their movements are carefully monitored. Work schedules are known to a tee by owners, and if permission has not been granted to remain out after work, then a slave had best find themselves swiftly back home in a timely manner to resume their duties to the clan.
8. Occasionally a clan master or mistress, or even a vampire that has been served, may bestow gifts upon their slaves, as a form of payment to keep their service all on the up and up. This is not necessarily a sign of being held as something precious, but merely to keep a slave's servitude legal as human law dictates that everyone must get 'paid' for all work they do.

CATTLE
[Please note that this section of information is just a sort of FYI deal as cattle will NOT be playable as characters, but rather NPC's. ]
1. Keeping Cattle is a highly illegal practice, and one not condoned by the Treaty. Many Clan Masters/Mistresses find ways to skirt around this law, however, and do so anyway as Cattle serve a purpose within a clan - low as it may be.
2. At their base, cattle are food, and nothing more. They are not treated as well as slaves, or really well at all.
3. Rather than a room with a bed, cattle are often stored in bare rooms that can sport a working bathroom and a few blankets for warmth as their only luxuries.
4. Cattle are generally kept fed and clothed, but only in the barest sense and only until they are chosen to be fed from.
5. Cattle are often comprised of free humans that had the bad sense to fall afoul of a vampire in some way or managed to get snatched up off the street - but more commonly cattle are comprised of slaves and pets that have somehow managed to fall so vastly out of favor with the Clan Master/Mistress they served that they were sold off as meat would be on a butcher's block.
6. Cattle are often fed from to the point of death. Often times this happens the first time they are bitten - and if they survive past a second time, then most assuredly they will die after being fed from then.
7. Occasionally cattle are intelligent enough to try to ingratiate themselves with clan vampires, hoping that they will be elevated to being kept as a slave - and occasionally, cattle will succeed. Very rarely though as most often, cattle's words fall on deaf ears as vampires see them as little more than an annoyance when they talk.
The Clan Masters and Their Views on the Keeping of Cattle
Kaisers Vesperes Van Hasselt and Rienhardt Friedmann: Both kaisers believe in the keeping of cattle, but they also believe in the upkeep of cattle as well. In other words, they are not purchased if they were previously diseased or have weakened immune systems and are encouraged to maintain good health.
Clan Master Zeo: He does not keep cattle on a regular basis as he expects his vampires to be capable of finding their own food - even the lesser ones. He /will/ occasionally purchase cattle when there are visitors to consider as he has no desire to see his slaves get over-fed from.
Clan Mistress Sarin: Sarin keeps cattle regularly, for both food for lesser vampires and visitors , but mostly for blood sport.
Clan Master Gunnar: While Gunnar expects his clan members to be able to attain food on their own, he does keep cattle regularly, though not an abundant amount. He has no fondness for this practice, but understands it's uses. Cattle in his home, though, is treated better than under most vampires' care.
Clan Mistress Helena: This clan mistress does not favor the keeping of cattle at all. Instead, she keeps two sorts of slaves - house slaves and feeder slaves. The ones that are house slaves are responsible for the cleaning and cooking and every other household chore imagineable. The feeder slaves are there for the sole purpose of feeding the vampires that live in the clan. They are kept healthy, well-fed, and well-clothed. They are a higher degree of slave in the house of Ilati Utu.

Please Note: Not /all/ humans need to or should have gifts. Unless you are playing a human that is /already/ a pet, a slave that may want to graduate to being a Pet, or a Free Human that you have intentions on working out a plot with a Clan Master or Mistress to become a Pet - your human character should be just that. A human. You can of course hint to rumors of 'the sight' being in your family's bloodline if you like, but that does not mean that your character actually has 'the Sight'.
1. Empathy - You can read the emotions of others, and can do it so well because you actually experience them yourself.
2. Empathetic Healing - By laying your hands on somebody, you can transfer some of your more pleasant emotions to them in an effort to heal their emotional pain or anguish.
3. Spider Sense - You can often tell when something bad is going to happen and while you don't know what this bad thing is, you can usually either find out or at least prepare for when it happens.
4. Astral Projection - When you're in a sleeping state, you can occasionally step out of your body and walk around as a spirit.
5. Medium - You can communicate with the dead by either sight or sound.
6. Automatic Writing - You can't communicate with the dead by sight or sound, but you can put yourself into a relaxed state and pass on a message from the spirit of one who is dead by allowing them 'take over' and write it out through you.
7. Photographic Memory - You remember everything you see, down to the last detail.
8. Eidetic Memory *this is a stronger version of photographic memory and therefore is elligible as only a single gift - no other gifts may be chosen if this one is picked * - You remember everything you see, smell, taste and hear, down to the last detail.
9. Hyper-Intellect - Your brain processes information faster than others, and allows you to therefore see things more clearly and come to a proper solution with an almost dizzying speed.
If you have read all of the above and your character is a human please include the phrase "While I breathe, I hope" in the spot provided for Joining Keys in your joining info.
