Pit Master

Position:

Pit Master is a position given to a former gladiator, usually viewed as a promotion.

The Pit Master is responsible for:

• Continued training and conditioning of the gladiators
• Keeping Gladiators in line out of the arena
• Seeing to it the Gladiators' health is maintained (in relation to the value of the gladior in question ) .

This means keeping non-sparring fights to a minimum, and keeping sparring matches from seriously injuring opponents, through means of force when necessary. The Pit Master always has a whip at his side, used to subdue unruly gladiators when necessary, has his own quarters separate from that of any of the gladiators. Here he/she is afforded greater luxuries of personal comfort, and privacy. The Pit Master no long fights in the arena, and will not be returned to such a status. A Pit Master who fails to do his duties adequately is sold off or put to death.

One of the sub-champion gladiators, Crucix has specifically crossed paths with the pit master on two occasions. He engaged in a fight with the current champion outside of the arena that required breaking up by use of the whip. Both gladiators still bear a few scars from the lashing of the pit master's whip. He is also noted for having severely put the pit master's position in jeopardy when he erroneously waved off a serious injury sustained in the arena which later nearly caused the sub-champion's death and forced the pit master to report his near fatality to the clan mistress. His lack of disclosure about his inability to gauge injury for some time after a match has nearly cost the pit master dearly, and as such, the sub-champion is often quicker to have his leash shortened, though the pit master's precise reasons for this have not been disclosed.

Gladiatorial Champion: (currently NPC, open position available)

The Champion is noted for having gotten into a serious fight with sub-champion Crucix (mentioned above) that required breaking up with a whip. He has also been noted for goading fights with the sub-champion until recently as the tension between the two seems to have settled for the moment.

Pit Master position is not currently available to members that already have a high ranking character. If you currently possess a plot specific character (ie character you already know is instrumental in later site plot as determined by owner), or a character with the rank of clan master, please refrain from applying at this time for this position.

The position of Pit Master is a full time one, as the pit master must also be available to be contacted by the bosses of gladiators that have additional professions to bring the clan money. Therefore, while the Pit Master may leave clan grounds, he is expected to have no other occupation.
